The paper “The pendulum-slosh problem: Simulation using a time-dependent conformal mapping” by Matt Turner, Tom Bridges and Hamid Alemi Ardakani has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Fluids and Structures. The paper investigates coupled fluid/vessel sloshing motion numerically in a rectangular vessel suspended by a rigid pivoting pole. The results simulate the motion experienced by a ship undergoing roll motion and has significance in the theory of ship stabilization. The numerical scheme uses a time-dependent conformal mapping, allowing for fast, high resolution numerical results.
