On Monday 4 March, Rachel Bernasconi spoke at the STEM for Britain event at the Houses of Parliament. She presented her poster, ‘Sleep… on the tip of the tongue?’, to MPs and members of the STEM research community. Her research, supervised by Prof Anne Skeldon and Dr Polina Vytnova, and in collaboration with Prof Derk-Jan Dijk (Director of the Surrey Sleep Research Centre), shows how the Arnold tongue structure of the two-process model of sleep regulation allows the model to reproduce individual differences in sleep timing, making it an effective framework on which to design personalised treatments to improve sleep.
