In early June, Cesare Tronci visited the Ghent University Global Campus in Seoul South Korea, for research interaction in Geometric Mechanics and Artificial Intelligence. His host for the visit was Joris Vankerschaver. The photo below shows Joris and his colleague Shodhan Rao, who is also Associate Professor at Ghent University Global Campus. On Saturday, 8 June, Cesare also met with Prof Dong Eui Chang at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST). Dong Eui was a student of Jerry Marsden, in the area of geometric mechanics, in the early 2000s. Cesare explained to Dong Eui the idea of a Surrey-KAIST link and got positive feedback. While the potential is there, overall Korea seems to be an extremely competitive market, with many international universities having nodes there. Examples, in addition to Ghent, are Stony Brook and George Mason.
