The paper “Wilson loops and random matrices”, co-authored by Georg Bergner (University of Jena), Vaibhav Gautam, Masanori Hanada (Queen Mary University of London), and Jack Holden (Tsinghua University), has been published open access this week (23 July) in the Journal of High Energy Physics (link to publisher’s page). They studied a conjecture proposed in an earlier paper of theirs that the Casimir scaling in area law for the Wilson loop is a consequence of a random walk on gauge group manifold.
