Stanislaw Biber hosts a minisymposium at the SIAM Dynamical Systems conference in Denver

Dr Stanisław Biber and Dr Aravind Kumar Kamaraj, research fellows in mathematics at the University of Surrey, co-organised a minisymposim at the SIAM conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems, held in Denver, Colorado. The minisymposium on “Mathematics of Brain Function and Disease” (link here) saw Stanisław chair the session and present a talk on “Mechanisms for Entrainment in Deep Brain Stimulation Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.” Further speakers at the minisymposium included Dr Kyle Wedgwood (University of Exeter), Henry Kerr (University of Exeter) and Prof. Jeff Moehlis (University of Califronia, Santa Barbara). Both Stanisław and Aravind work on projects supervised by Anne Skeldon. Stanisław’s participation in the conference has been generously supported by grants from the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and the London Mathematical Society. The first figure below show the four speakers (left to right: Kyle Wedgewood, Henry Kerr, Stanislaw, and Jeff Moehlis), and the second photo shows Stanislaw during his talk.
