Hamid Alemi Ardakani visited Mathematics this week (5-6 August). Hamid is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Exeter and a former PhD student at Surrey. His hosts for the visit were Matt Turner and Tom Bridges. The purpose of the visit was for research interaction (shallow water hydrodynamics, wave interactions, and wave energy harvesting), and to discuss the upcoming one-day conference on Ocean Wave Harvesting to be held at Surrey on Friday 19 September. Hamid’s visit was funded by the Newton Institute Network Grant (New Directions in Mathematical Modelling of Ocean Wave Energy). The photo below shows (L-R) Matt, Hamid and Tom.
