Survey paper of Camilla Nobili published in Applied Mathematical Modelling

The paper “Enhanced dissipation by advection and applications to PDEs“, co-authored by Camilla Nobili, Yuanyuan Feng (East China Normal University, Shanghai) and Anna Mazzucato (Penn State University), has been published in Applied Mathematical Modelling (link to published paper and link to finalform arXiv version). The paper is a survey which provides a concise yet comprehensive overview of enhanced dissipation phenomena, transitioning seamlessly from the physical principles underlying the interplay between advection and diffusion to their rigorous mathematical formulation and analysis. The paper begins with the standard theory of enhanced dissipation, highlighting key mechanisms and results, and then progresses to its applications in notable nonlinear PDEs such as the Cahn-Hilliard and the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equations.
