Alessandro Torrielli has been invited to give one of three plenary lectures at a conference on “Selected Topics in Theoretical High Energy Physics” held at the Free University of Tbilisi in Georgia during 21-27 September 2015. Congratulations to James Wright who passed his PhD viva today. The title of his thesis is “On the stability and basins of attraction of forced nonlinear oscillators” and the work was supervised by Michele Bartuccelli and Jonathan Deane. The external examiner was Steven Bishop (UCL) and the internal examiner was Anne Skeldon.

Daniel Ratliff is attending the British Science Festival 2015 this week, 7-10 September in Bradford.  Daniel was one of two PhD students in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences to be selected for sponsorship.  The award includes accommodation for five nights, travel, and free tickets to a selection of events and the student social.
