Martin Wolf is attending the Workshop on Higher Gauge Theory and Higher Quantization held at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, on 26-27 June.  At the workshop he gave the opening lecture, on the first day, on “Self dual higher gauge theory“.  The website for the workshop is here.

Jon Bevan visited the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sussex on Monday 2nd June to give a talk in the Analysis and PDEs Seminar series.  The talk was on “A stability criterion for the radial cavitating map in nonlinear elasticity“.  Abstract and further information can be found at here.  

 Congratulations to Antonio Pittelli on passing his PhD Confirmation Examination yesterday (Thursday 19 June).  Antonio presented his work on “The secret symmetry of the AdS3 x S3 x M4 superstring” to his examiners Jock McOrist and Cesare Tronci.  Antonio’s supervisors are Alessandro Torrielli and Martin Wolf.
