The members of the committee were Milvia Francesca Rossini (Bicocca), Francesco De Montis (Cagliari), and Cesare Tronci. The title of the thesis is “Singularities in fluid dynamics: from the classics approach to Monge-Ampere geometry”. Roberto‘s project […]

Video highlight of the paper of Anne Skeldon in Journal of Biological Rhythms now available

A 5-minute promotional video, prepared by the authors, has been posted on the Journal of Biological Rhythms website, to showcase the paper “Mathematical analysis of light-sensitivity related challenges in assessment of the intrinsic period of the human circadian pacemaker“. The authors are Imran Usmani, Derk-Jan Dijk, and Anne Skeldon. The paper was a result of […]

Book of Alessandro Torrielli on integrability and duality published by the Institute of Physics

The book “Integrability using the Sine-Gordon and Thirring Duality“, with sole author Alessandro Torrielli, has been published by IOP (link to IOP page). A synopsis of the book follows. Quantum field theory is typically not solvable in closed form and represents a very complex and extremely accurate description of elementary particle physics. Integrable quantum field […]

New Postdoc Aravind Kumar Kamaraj joins project of Anne Skeldon on mathematical modelling of sleep

Aravind Kumar Kamaraj joined Surrey this month, taking up a 2-year Mathematics / Surrey Sleep Research Centre position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He is joining an interdisciplinary team led at Surrey by Derk-Jan Dijk  (Director, Surrey Sleep Research Centre) investigating sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances in dementia (link here).  Aravind will be jointly supervised by Anne […]
