David Dritschel, Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of St Andrews, visited the department on Friday for research interaction and to give a colloquium talk.  His colloquium talk was on “Vortex dynamics on general two-dimensional surfaces“.  David’s website can be found here.

Janet Godolphin is the inaugural winner of the Frank Hansford-Miller Fellowship Award.  It is a biennial award given by the Statistical Society of Australia to a UK statistician.  Janet will be visiting Perth in September 2013 to receive the award.  The website of SSAI is here.
