Exercising at University

Hello everyone! Today I just wanted to let you know about some of the sport facilities which are on campus.

First of all, there are lots and lots of clubs and societies in university which you can join to. Some require a fee to be paid, but others are free. Many of these are sports related- from dodgeball on Stag Hill Campus, to Archery or Rock-Climbing in the Sports Park on Manor Park Campus. So please check out the Student Union Website (https://ussu.co.uk/activity/clubs-societies/ ), I am sure there will be something which you love, or at least something which you would surely enjoy! Joining these are great for socializing, exercising and having fun too!

I have personally joined the running society, Waterpolo team, Yoga, the MechSoc and a few others. Waterpolo was a great experience to have, since we travelled to other areas in England to play league games. At the Sports Park there are exceptional facilities, such as a 50m swimming pool, a 120 station Gym, football courts, tennis courts, rock-climbing and many others. It was even the training base of some nations during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. So please do check these out! You will not regret it!

In addition, if you like calisthenics or other forms of self-body training, check out the fitness facility which has been installed on Stag Hill Campus, specifically on Pats Field, which is in between the Library and the 5G building. And best of all…usage is free!

Tip: Make sure you warm up before exercising and stretch appropriately after training – we don´t want you to get injured!
