Gianne Derks visited the Department of Mathematics at the University of Missouri, which is in the city of Columbia, Missouri, from 29 March until 2 April to work with Yuri Latushkin on stability and linearizations in the Euler equation. During the visit, she gave a colloquium talk on Monday 1st April, on the topic “Existence and stability of stationary fronts in inhomogeneous wave equations“. In the talk she discussed sine-Gordon type models with inhomogeneities for long Josephson junctions and DNA-RNAP interaction. The website for the Department of Mathematics is here.
