First year is coming to a closing. So many things have changed since I started university; lot of new beginnings and bigs decisions! So, today I thought I’d give you a little update as to what’s happening in my world at the moment.
I’ll start off with one of my big decisions which, in my books, is also the most exciting news! I needed to decide on a career path; whether it was to continue with a career in Biomedical Science or if after the 3 years I wanted to move on into Medicine (which would be an additional 4 years excluding the year of credit from have graduated with a degree in Biomed). It was important that I make this decision sooner rather than later because after 2nd year Biomed you can choose to do a placement training year which is highly beneficial to your course as it’s an open door into the profession. So, after a long time of considering what I wanted for my life and what my passion was, I decided to continue with Medicine after my degree and then later specialise into Obs and Gynae. I’m really so excited, and couldn’t be happier with what I’ve chosen! I’ve got a long road ahead of me, but you have to go after what you want!
Now onto some new beginnings… My family and I are currently moving, THIS WEEK actually, out of the house we’ve been renting since moving to the UK and into the first house we’ve bought here! Some really exciting stuff! There are boxes absolutely everywhere! It is challenging moving with exams approaching, but I’ve been planning out my times for studying and unpacking, so hopefully everything will go as planned. My family has been very gracious and understanding with the fact that I have exams coming up and may not be as helpful in the packing and unpacking, and for that I’m really grateful! One of the wonderful things about the new house is that it’s slightly closer to University, which will make the commute in and out of Uni easier and quicker.
On a completely unrelated note to moving; my driving test is also approaching… I’m quite nervous for it! But I just need to keep practising and get me head right! Once I get my license I’ll be able to drive to Uni instead of taking the train. I might even carpool with some of my other friends commuting into Uni everyday, who knows? It’ll be fun!
In other news, I have some close family members moving to the UK from SA! This is really exiting because when we were in SA, I had only one cousin living close to us, other than that, the nearest family we had was four hours away. However since moving to the UK, my granny, aunts and cousin from SA and other parts of the UK have decided to move to where we are to be closer to one another. It’s absolutely wonderful! We have also had at least 4 or 5 of our closest family friends from SA relocate to the UK too! Loads of new beginnings!
Thank you for sticking around to hear about a few of my life updates! Hope you are all staying healthy and safe!
See you here same time next week!
