这个周五就是传统的农历新年。由于学制的不同，农历新年期间通常并不是英国大学的假期，但是作为一个尊重文化多元和参与的社会，在英国仍然有大量的农历新年庆祝活动可以供我们选择。在今年，至少就有这些新年庆祝活动将在英国举行：
[萨里大学新年庆祝活动]
萨里大学中国办公室将在腊月二十九在校内举办农历新年的庆祝活动，届时将有现场写春联和发放包饺子礼包的活动。同时，中国办公室也在线上举办了很多庆祝活动，鼓励大家晒出自己的年夜饭一起共庆新年。

[新年集市@吉尔福德大教堂]
新年期间，拥有近千年历史的吉尔福德大教堂将举办传统的新年集市来庆祝农历新年，届时将有很热闹的活动在古老的大教堂前举行。

[新年庆祝活动@伦敦唐人街]
坐落于美丽的威斯敏斯特（西敏寺区）的唐人街是传统的华人餐馆和商店聚集地，每年农历新年，这里都将有热闹的庆祝活动，包括传统的舞龙狮、挂灯笼和贴对联等。上周来到唐人街时，当地市政府已经悬挂上了漂亮的灯笼，非常有新年的氛围。
根据公开消息，今年的新年庆祝活动将在2月11日（大年初二）进行，并且通常将持续一整天。
表演队伍将在查令十字街（Charing Cross）拉开帷幕，然后蜿蜒穿过唐人街的沙夫茨伯里大道（Shaftesbury Avenue）。特拉法加广场（Trafalgar Square）也将成为热闹的活动中心，现场会有传统的舞龙舞狮、烟花鞭炮、音乐舞蹈等，预计总共有数十辆花车和约30个团体进行表演。

[特别夜场展览@泰特伦敦艺术馆]
泰特不列颠艺术馆是坐落于伦敦西区的著名艺术场馆，今年他们也将推出针对农历新年的特别庆祝活动，在除夕当天，夜场展览将被提供，年夜饭后我们可以在艺术的殿堂里来一场秉烛夜游。

[新年集市@博罗市场]
博罗市场（Borough Market）是伦敦著名的集市，每天都有大量的小贩在那里售卖制作精美的食物和工艺品。在新年期间，博罗集市将在大年初一上午十一点举办传统的舞龙狮活动。

This Friday marks the traditional Lunar New Year. Due to different academic schedules, Lunar New Year often isn’t a holiday at UK universities. But as part of a society that values cultural diversity and participation, there’s no shortage of Lunar New Year celebrations across the UK for us to choose from. This year, among others, these celebrations are taking place:
[Surrey University’s New Year Celebrations]
The China Region Office at Surrey University is hosting Lunar New Year celebrations on campus on the 29th of the last lunar month, featuring activities like writing Spring Festival couplets and distributing dumpling-making kits. Additionally, the office has organized numerous online events, encouraging everyone to share their New Year’s Eve dinner and celebrate together.

[New Year’s Market @ Guildford Cathedral]
To celebrate Lunar New Year, the historic Guildford Cathedral, with nearly a thousand years of history, is hosting a traditional New Year’s Market. Expect a bustling event in front of the ancient cathedral.

[New Year Celebrations @ London’s Chinatown]
Nestled in beautiful Westminster, Chinatown is a traditional hub for Chinese restaurants and shops. Every Lunar New Year, it comes alive with celebrations including traditional dragon and lion dances, lantern hanging, and couplet posting. On my last visit to Chinatown, local authorities had already hung beautiful lanterns, adding to the New Year atmosphere.
This year’s celebrations are set for Feb 11 (the second day of the New Year) and are expected to last all day. The parade will kick off on Charing Cross Road, winding through Shaftesbury Avenue in Chinatown. Trafalgar Square will be a focal point of festivities, with traditional dragon and lion dances, fireworks, music, and dance. Approximately 30 floats and groups are expected to perform.

[Special Evening Exhibition @ Tate Britain]
Tate Britain, a renowned art venue in London’s West End, is also joining in with special celebrations for Lunar New Year. On New Year’s Eve, an evening exhibition will be available, offering a candlelit tour through the halls of art after the New Year’s Eve dinner.

[New Year’s Market @ Borough Market]
Borough Market, London’s famed marketplace, buzzes daily with vendors selling exquisite food and crafts. For New Year’s, a traditional dragon and lion dance will take place at the market on the morning of the first day of the New Year.
