Anthony Nolan!

Aye, guys!

I finally touched down in Hong Kong! Saying goodbye to Guildford has been such a struggle, even though I’ve had the last few days to spend time with my friends to mark the end of our eventful first year!

Before leaving, I sent off my mouth swaps to Anthony Nolan, a UK charity that works in areas of leukemia and hematopoietic; they also manage and recruit donors who are willing to donate their stem cells to those who are in need of lifesaving transplants or are diagnosed with blood cancer. The idea is to acquire healthy cells, with the same tissue type to replace and repair their own damaged cells. Anyone from ages 16-30 can sign up!

Once you have set up your account on the website, they’ll post a mouth swab for a genetic sample and once you pop that back in the mail, they’ll notify you if you’ve got a match! As simple as that!

Luckily, Surrey has our very own Marrow Station, if you’ve got any questions on how to register or hope to make some monetary donations, feel free to contact them!

I can’t wait to share more of my experiences back in Hong Kong with you!

Til’ next time!
