Future plan -masters? work?

Howdy! What are you guys working on right now, assignments, exam preparation? Can’t believe it or not, I still have 4 assignments left to end my final year, and graduate in July. After graduation, we all enter the adulthood stage to start making more decision towards our future path. Some of my friends are trying to look for graduate jobs on LinkedIn, JobsDB, meanwhile, I have decided to continue my studies in the UK by applying masters.

There are few considerations before planning to do masters.
1. Future prospects
I would suggest everyone browse the program description of the desired university beforehand. It is because you will have a more concrete idea about the modules and the teaching methods of the universities. Courses may include a dissertation that takes up the most credits. Moreover, most of the universities offer Unibuddy service that you could chat with the current students to know more about their university experience. Student blogs may be found on the universities website too.

2. Cost
The tuition fee for the postgraduate programme costs around £25000- £36000 for international students. Scholarship is available for most universities. Students can also apply for part-time jobs to support their living costs during their studies. Approach to the finance team of the universities for more support.

3. Time
Masters usually last for 1 year that some may consider acquiring more job experiences to gain foundational knowledge before choosing their desired course. It could be a competitive edge for students applying for masters with more working experiences. Therefore, it will be better if you could do more research in order to spend the time wisely that work the best for the career path.

4. Entry requirement
Some courses may require specific entry requirement according to applicants’ undergraduate program. Also, exams are encouraged to include in the application. For example, students applying for business courses are suggested to include their GMAT or GRE results to increase their rates of acceptance.

Apart from the considerations mentioned above, I advise everyone to talk to Careers Team or personal tutor to seek professional advice for the future plan. Graduate jobs opportunities are available on the Surrey Pathfinder site, please don’t hesitate to check it out. In the next blog, I will summarise and share my postgraduate application process with everyone. I will include some of my personal statement tips and commonly required documents for the application. If you have any inquiries about the application, please feel free to comment below!

Wish you guys every success in your forthcoming endeavours!
