Notts Games 2022

Hi everyone, apa khabar? It’s Syahira here and this is my first-ever post for Surrey Meets Malaysia blog 😊 Last two weeks, Malaysian Society Surrey has participated in volleyball and football for the Nottingham Games. It was truly an amazing experience and I am thrilled to tell you about it!

Before that, some of you might be curious about what the Notts Games is? Well, Notts Games or Nottingham Malaysian Games is the largest sporting event, participating by Malaysian societies across the UK, Ireland, and Europe universities. It was first organised by the Nottingham Malaysian Society (NMS) committee in 1985 and has been held annually since then. Sadly, in 2020-2021, Notts Games was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, the NMS committee finally make its appearance this year with Nottingham Malaysian Games 2022!

So, here is our day-trip to the University of Nottingham 🙂

We headed from Guildford at 4 am and arrived at the University of Nottingham around 7:15 am (it was a looooong journey!).

After registration, we then walked together to watch some sporting events that have been started. Here we watched an INTENSE volleyball match between the University of Sheffield and the University of Nottingham!
Volleyball and football team from Malaysian Society Surrey! (excluding 2 of them who joined me for cheerleading! 😂)

Additionally, in conjunction with the sporting event, they also held a Malaysian Food Festival which I believe is what every Malaysian looked forward to! 👀 There were 6 stalls selling authentic Malaysian foodies like nasi lemak, nasi kerabu, cendol, satay and more! All the foodies tasted really good!!
Chicken Satay!!! 😍

It was a long and tiring day for us but definitely a worthwhile experience! Thank you to the NMS committee for organising this event and we look forward to joining the next Notts Games! 🙂
