Vakhtang Putkaradze, Centennial Professor in Mathematics at the University of Alberta in Canada, is visiting the department for the week of 17-21 June.  Vakhtang works on a range of problems in geometric mechanics from the nanoscale to the macroscale.  His host is Cesare Tronci.  During his visit he gave a talk on Wednesday in the Geometric Mechanics Seminar on “Geometric theory of garden hoses“.
