Sergey Zelik is on a four-week research visit to China, arriving on 12th August and returning 6th September. His base in China is the University of Lanzhou (see map left) and his host there is Chunyou Sun (who visited Surrey last year), and they are working on the theory of attractors for dissipative PDEs. He has already given two talks: a talk on inertial manifolds at North-west Normal University of Lanzhou, and a talk on hyperbolic Cahn-Hilliard equations at his host institution. He will also visit universities at Beijing, Nanjing, and Wuhan. During his visit he has taken up the sport of camel riding and is already considered a leader in the field.
