Six undergraduate students awarded funding for summer research projects

Six undergraduate students in mathematics have been awarded funding for ten-week research projects in summer 2018.  The six students, their (supervisor), the project title, and their (funding source) are listed below.

  • Laura Allegranza (Carina Dunlop) Investigating the contribution of tumour growth to dilution effects in models of drug delivery (funded by EPSRC).
  • Maria Teresa Chavez Malacara (David Lloyd & Matt Turner) Computing multi-pulse interactions in the Complex Ginzburg Landau equation (funded by the Department).
  • Harry Khera (Janet Godolphin) Construction of bespoke blocked full and fractional factorial designs (funded by the Department).
  • Luci Krnic (James Grant, in collaboration with Ian Morris and Alireza Tamaddoni-Nezhad (Computer Science)) Mathematical aspects of topological data analysis (funded by EPSRC).
  • James Rowe (Matt Turner & Tom Bridges) Shallow-water sloshing in cylindrical vessels (funded by EPSRC).
  • Elliott Sullinge-Farrall (Anne Skeldon, in collaboration with Gianne Derks and Paul Glendinning (Manchester)) Bifurcations and dynamics in circle maps derived from `threshold’ dynamical systems (funded by the London Mathematical Society).
