Tom Bridges was an invited speaker at the conference “Analysis of Evolutionary and Complex Systems (ALEX2018)” which was held at the Weierstrass Institute in Berlin during 24-28 September.  Tom spoke on “From the Benjamin-Feir instability to Whitham modulation theory and beyond.”  On Wednesday afternoon a special colloquium was held at the Humboldt University in honour of the 60th birthday of Alexander Mielke.
