The paper “Coupled shallow-water fluid sloshing in an upright annular vessel” co-authored by Matt Turner and James Rowe has been accepted for publication in Journal of Engineering Mathematics. The paper investigates fluid sloshing in an annular tank where the tank is allowed to move rectilinearly due to the motion of the fluid. The tank is also attached to a spring which provides a restoring force for the system. Internal 1:1 resonances for the system are investigated where the vessel motion has the same frequency as one of the freely sloshing modes in the stationary vessel. Numerical simulations are also presented using the Lagrangian Particle Path formulation. The author final copy of the paper can be foundĀ here.
