Paper of Dan Hill, Dave Lloyd, and Matt Turner to appear in Journal of Nonlinear Science

The paper “Localised radial patterns on the surface of a ferrofluid“, co-authored by Dan Hill, Dave Lloyd and Matt Turner, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Nonlinear Science (JNLS). The final form arXiv version can be found here. The 74-page paper presents formal results regarding the existence of localised axisymmetric patterns on the surface of a magnetic fluid. They apply local invariant manifolds and radial normal form theory to a quasilinear PDE system and identify three classes of radial patterns. Below is a figure showing a schematic of the various coordinate charts used in the matching process.
