Panagiotis Kaklamanos, from the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences, University of Edinburgh, visited the MoLSS research group the week of 16 January. His hosts were Gianne Derks and Anne Skeldon, and they discussed multiple time scales in sleep-wake systems. He also gave a MoLSS seminar on Tuesday 17 January. The title of his talk was “Geometric singular perturbation analysis of the multiple-timescale Hodgkin-Huxley equations” (link here for abstract). His research focuses on theory and applications of dynamical systems, in particular on the study of systems that feature multiple timescales, using geometric singular perturbation theory (Panos home page here). The photo below shows Panos with Anne and Gianne.
