Werner Bauer is session Convenor at the European Geosciences Union meta-conference in Vienna

The 2023 EGU conference was held this year during 23-38 April in Vienna. The EGU is Europe’s premier geosciences union, dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the Earth, planetary, and space sciences for the benefit of humanity, worldwide. Werner Bauer attended the 2023 event and was Convenor of Session AS5.3 (Recent Developments in Numerical Earth System Modelling), with co-convenors Jemma Shipton (Exeter), Christian Kühnlein (ECMWF, Reading), and Hiroe Yamazaki (Imperial). Werner also presented a poster in the session (co-authored with Long Li (INRIA Rennes)) on “Towards compatible finite element discretizations of stochastic rotating shallow water equations“. EGU23 welcomed 18,831 registered attendees, of which 15,453 made their way to Vienna from 107 countries and 3,378 joined online from 105 countries.
