The 14th European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology was held last week (13th to 17th July) in Graz, Austria. It is a joint meeting of SMB (Society of Mathematical Biology) and ESMTB (European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology). Esha Joshi, Daniel Knott and Anne Skeldon attended and gave talks. Anne gave a contributed talk on “Towards Digital Twins for Sleep-Wake Timing” (abstract link here). Daniel (Supervisors: Anne Skeldon, Surrey and Stefan Klus, Herriot Watt University) gave a contributed talk on “A Kuramoto Oscillator Model of Closed-loop Auditory Stimulation of REM Sleep EEG”, based on joint work with Anne, Derk-Jan Dijk (Surrey Sleep Research Centre) , Valeria Jaramillo (Psychology, Surrey), and Stefan Klus (Heriott-Watt) (abstract link here). Esha (Supervisors: Anne, Surrey and Carina Dunlop, UCL) gave a contributed talk on “Model-informed Optimisation of Dosing Strategies Using Mechanistic Tumour Growth Modelling”, based on joint work with Anne, James Yates (GSK), Carina Dunlop (UCL), and Gianne Derks (Leiden, Netherlands) (abstract link here).
