Alex Mahalov, Wilhoit Foundation Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Arizona State University, visited Maths@Surrey on Monday 21 September. His host for the visit was Bin Cheng. In addition to meeting members of staff and having research discussions, he gave a Fundamental Mathematics Seminar in the afternoon. The title was “Doppler Effects Associated with Nonlinear Motion in 4D Spacetime: Mathematics, Physics and Modern Applications“, and the abstract is online here. Alex was obligated to wear the ASU cap as he was representing the new initiative in London where ASU has opened a partner institution (link here).
