A NERC grant of £74k on “Exploiting new observations and data assimilation techniques for improved forecasting of convective precipitation” as been awarded to the Fluid Mechanics and Meteorology Group.  The PI on the grant is Ian Roulstone.  The project funds a PhD studentship to work on the project in partnership with the UK Met Office and the University of Reading.  Details of the project can be found here.
