The paper “Groups, Drift and Harmonic Measures“, co-authored by Mark Pollicott (Warwick) and Polina Vytnova, has been published in a special issue of Lecture Notes in Mathematics (Mathematics Going Forward, LNM 2313). The volume is a collection of open problems across mathematics. The article of Polina describes an old problem and a new approach. The old problem is to understand the nature of harmonic measures for cocompact Fuchsian groups. The new approach is to compute numerically the value of the drift and, in particular, get new results on the dimension of the measure in some new examples.
