As my regular readers of this blog may already know, I have recently completed my master’s degree in International Business Management at Surrey Business School. In this blog post, I will share my experiences at this institution and explain why I believe choosing Surrey Business School is an excellent decision.
Surrey Business School (SBS) stands out as one of the leading business schools in the UK, offering a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in business and management. In the Shanghai Global Ranking of 2023, SBS achieved a global ranking within the top 100 for business administration and management. What makes SBS exceptional is its emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, spanning various fields such as business analytics and operations, digital economy, entrepreneurship and innovation, finance and accounting, management education, marketing, people and organizations, and strategy and international business.
While my primary field of study was International Business Management, I had the opportunity to explore diverse modules covering international trade, global strategy and its implementation, marketing, human resource management, international human resource management, accounting and finance, as well as e-business strategy. These diverse modules not only highlight the interdisciplinary nature of Surrey Business School but also provide students with a solid foundation for pursuing a wide range of careers in business and management. Furthermore, our instructors possess extensive industry and academic experience, making them adept at offering the necessary guidance and mentorship to students.
In addition to the modules mentioned above, I also enrolled in modules on business reporting techniques and international business projects. These modules equipped me with invaluable skills for conducting both industry and academic research, data collection and analysis, report writing, and strategic management, all within the context of international business. I had the opportunity to work with the analytical tool “SPSS” for the first time, an experience I found truly enriching. These skills also serve as a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing PhD opportunities in the future.
Beyond my academic pursuits at SBS, I had the privilege of being elected as one of the course representatives, responsible for representing and providing support to over 150 students from diverse nationalities. This position allowed me to collaborate with students and staff from various backgrounds and engage with the top management of SBS and the university. I played a vital role in addressing the concerns of my fellow students and enhancing their overall academic experience. Additionally, I served as a student voice ambassador, amplifying the voices of students and working in collaboration with the student union and university management to tackle challenges associated with the academic experiences of students.
My experience at SBS is beyond what can be expressed in a single blogpost. In summary, my time at SBS has been a transformative journey, both personally and professionally. I am confident that this same enriching experience awaits prospective students seeking to study in the UK, specifically at the University of Surrey. I am proud to be a part of the Surrey Business School; I am proud to be Surrey.
Awesome story . Thank you, Abdul.
I’m happy to see you progressing in your career
