Hey guys. Hope everyone’s good?
Last week, I decided I deserved a break from uni (I really didn’t. But oh well). So, I went to see the Firework’s as part of the Guy Fawkes night celebration. It’s usually on the 5th of November, the anniversary of the failed Gunpowder Plot, but because this year it fell on a Monday, it was celebrated on the 3rd instead as Saturday was a lot more convenient.
The Gunpowder plot was basically an attempt to blow up the House of Parliament and bring down the government in 1605, by a group of protesters. The plan was leaked to authorities though and the on the 4th of November 1605, Guy Fawkes was found in the cellars under the House with 36 barrels of gunpowder. Till date, every year, the anniversary is celebrated around the UK with bonfires and fireworks…and sometimes a dummy representing Fawkes.
In Guildford, it was held in Stoke Park:
When this was over, there were rides as well (like a pop-up amusement park) …. but for some reason it didn’t occur to me to take pictures, sorry.
Afterwards, because I’m so good at this procrastination thing, I went to see Venom (finally). I’d wanted to see the movie for a while but never found the right time. It turns out it wasn’t all that worth it. Well that’s a bit harsh. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t what I expected it to be if I’m being honest. The acting was great, but the plot was bit cliché.
Have you guys seen it? What did you think?
Till next time guys.
Fawziyyah.
Hi! Your blog is a blessing, I love the part where you talked about “think career”. I’m a prospective student of surrey university as I was given a conditional admission few days ago. I’m a Nigerian, currently in Nigeria.
Hi Joseph, Congratulations on your conditional offer! I’m glad to hear that you enjoy the posts, so thank you!
