Open Days at Surrey

Open days are one of the best ways to get a feel for a uni – they give you the opportunity to look around, talk to current students and academics and compare unis. The Open Day at Surrey is hands down the reason why I chose Surrey. After my subject taster lecture and looking around the accommodations, I could instantly picture myself studying and living here.

Register your place

In order to hear the latest news from us, you’ll need to register your place for the Open Day. You can do this on the University of Surrey’s website.

University of Surrey was awarded University of the Year for Graduate Employment by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022

On the day

Between 8.45am and 4pm, you can explore our campus and take a look around the accommodations and facilities. We recommend allowing 4 hours to explore everything to get a real feel for what Surrey is like. You’ll get to go on a general campus tour as well as attend subject-specific talks and talks on topics such as student finance, employability and accommodation.

Subject-specific talks

The subject-specific talks will be hosted by lecturers throughout the day. These are the perfect opportunity to learn about your chosen course; you’ll gain an insight into the course modules as well as its structure. You can also ask lecturers about things like Professional Training placements.

When I came to my Open Day, I was really impressed with the enthusiasm and passion displayed by the lecturer, which was definitely a deciding factor when choosing Surrey!

Campus tours

For me, the campus is one of the most important elements. Surrey has such a community feel and just an all-round lovely, tranquil atmosphere, so I’d definitely recommend going on a campus tour. These are led by our Student Ambassadors who will take you to key places such as the library, accommodations and study spaces, and they’ll answer any questions on all things student life, societies, part-time work, Guildford and budgeting.

Other facilities

Before or after your campus tour, why not check out our food facilities or Surrey Sports Park which is home to a 120-station gym as well as a whole host of sports and classes. As a student, you’ll be able to purchase a discounted membership at Surrey Sports Park.

Plan your visit

Located just off the A3 and only 15 minutes from the M25, getting to our campuses by car is super easy. Parking will be available on your open day. Alternatively, you can get the train to Stag Hill Campus, our main campus, with it being only a 10-minute walk from Guildford train station. If you’re coming from after, there are direct trains from Gatwick (45 mins) and Heathrow (just over an hour).

In terms of food, there will be plenty of places available to grab food and drinks throughout the day.

Other ways to explore Surrey

If you’re unable to make our Open Days, you can visit us virtually, chat to our Student Ambassadors via our Unibuddy platform who will answer any queries you have or get a feel for the University via our Instagram accounts, @uniofsurrey and @surreystudent.

We hope to see you soon!
