Semester 2

Hi all!

It is unbelievable how fast time flies! It is already the final day of the second week of second semester. I am really excited for this semester because the modules are interesting and challenging at the same time. This includes a field trip to Morocco! The perks of being a tourism student! As interesting as it sounds, it is going to be challenging because upon returning from this field trip, I have to complete two assignments including a podcast. As the saying goes ‘work hard, play hard’.

The first week of a new semester is always the best because meeting up with friends after a long break means there is so much to catch up on and lectures usually end earlier than scheduled!  Last week was even more interesting because those who went on an exchange during the first semester have returned.  Listening to their stories while on an exchange made me wish I was serious about going on an exchange to New Zealand. Oh well I guess everything happens for a reason. If I had been away during my first semester, I would have not met so many wonderful people here in Surrey. This includes meeting my second cousin for the first time. It was a pleasant surprise to find out we were actually related. (By the way she is an exchange student from Monash, Malaysia).

Guys if you have the opportunity to go for an exchange semester, and you are up for some adventure. Please do so!  I believe living abroad by yourself is an experience worth going for, not only for the education, but for the different cultures and environment too. Who knows you might even find someone special there too. It’s great how the university offers exchange programs to so many other universities around the world! Nearly all undergraduate students at Surrey have the opportunity of spending a semester or a year at one of their world-wide partners. Whether you would like to experience the beautiful countryside of France or you’re an outdoor person who seeks for thrill and adventure in New Zealand. Where you can go depends on your degree programe.
