How to get from Heathrow to our University?

Apa khabar, everyone? Hope everyone is keeping safe and sane! Finally, I’ve got some time to write a few posts after busy weeks of exams and assignments. Btw, hope it’s not too late to wish everyone all the best for the January exam! 😊

Since some students from Feb intake are coming soon, I thought of posting some available options to travel from Heathrow airport to the University of Surrey. Planning a journey must be stressful for some of us, especially for the first-timer. But here we are to help you as best as we can! ✨

  1. Coach – Railair

Cost: £6.6 – £10

Duration: 1 hour 30 mins

I would say getting a coach from the airport is the best option so far. Not only because it is cheap, but also because it is convenient and the staff is super helpful! The service normally runs every 1 hour and please beware of the changes as you might need to change the coach at some stations!

To book the ticket, you must download the Trainline app or go to their website and put the details of your journey. Then pick the time available and you are good to go!

2. Uber

Cost: £45 – £60

Duration: 30 mins

The second best option is getting an Uber from the airport. It is indeed the most expensive when compared to the other options. But it would be the best decision to opt for Uber if you’ve got lots of luggage to bring on your own. Uber is normally available most of the time and it is quite easy to get an Uber from there.

Again, if you would like to opt for this one, you need to get an Uber app on your phone!

3. Surrey Cars Guildford

Cost: £45 – £60

Duration: 30 mins

Surrey Cars Guildford is similar to Uber but they specialise in the Guildford area. The price is also quite similar to Uber but please get ready with some cash as some of the drivers do not accept cards! From my experience, the booking services are very convenient and easy. You can just book it through their website or call them directly and they will give you a fast response!

Here is the link to their website: https://surreycarsguildford.com

4. London Underground & Train

Cost: £14 – £21

Duration: 2 hours

The last option is taking Heathrow Underground to Waterloo and then taking a South Western Railway Train to Guildford (Heathrow – Waterloo – Guildford). I personally don’t prefer this one as it takes so much time and energy, especially when you have lots of stuff to bring. But I am suggesting this to you just in case you prefer this option! 😊

You need to download the Trainline app or go to their website and put the details of your journey to book a ticket from London Waterloo to Guildford. You can also buy the ticket from the counters available at Waterloo station!

The University itself also provides an airport pick-up service for newly arriving students. Please watch out for the information via the University website/social media/email so you don’t miss it! Hope this helps and we can’t wait to welcome the newcomers soon! Goodluck ✨
