The paper “A proof of validity for multiphase Whitham modulation theory“, co-authored by Tom Bridges, Anna Kostianko, and Guido Schneider (Universität Stuttgart), has been published by the Proceedings A of the Royal Society of London. A link to the final form arXiv version of the paper is here, and a link to the published version is here. The paper gives the first proof of validity for multiphase Whitham modulation equations. The proof is based on Gevrey spaces with initial data analytic in a strip in the complex plane, and uses Cauchy- Kowalevskaya-type arguments for the existence, uniqueness, and validity.
