Paper of Josephine Solowiej-Wedderburn and Carina Dunlop published in the Biophysical Journal

The paper “Sticking around: Cell adhesion patterning for energy minimization and substrate mechanosensing“, co-authored by Josephine Solowiej-Wedderburn and Carina Dunlop, has been published in the Biophysical Journal. It is published open access and is available here. The image below shows a simulation of cell deformation with a random placement of adhesive patches near the cell edge. In the paper, it is shown that cell stiffness sensing depends not just on the mechanical properties of its environment but also on the spatial patterning of adhesion sites.
