Polina Vytnova is visiting the Sydney Mathematics Research Institute in Australia for four weeks, supported by the SMRI International Visitor Program. Her host and co-author is Caroline Wormell (a DECRA Fellow in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney). They have been working on a couple of projects related to dimension computations of fractal sets, extending the methods in their previous collaboration. While in Australia, Polina and Caroline were invited by Dmitry Badziahin and Alexander Fish, from the number Theory group at the University of Sydney, to participate in their conference “Ergodic Theory, Diophantine Approximation and Related Topics 2026” (conference website here). The first photo below features the SMRI balcony, where Polina used to work in the evenings. The second picture is a night view of the Quadrangle – the oldest university building in Australia, where SMRI is located.
