The paper “Adjusting higher Chern-Simons theory“, co-authored by G. Gagliardo, D. Rist, C. Saemann (all three part of Heriot-Watt, and the Maxwell Institute), and Martin Wolf, has been published in the Journal of Mathematical Physics (open access link here). A fundamental problem in formulating higher Chern–Simons theories is the construction of a consistent higher gauge theory that circumvents the fake-flatness constraint. This paper proposes a solution to this problem using adjusted higher connections. Full abstract below, along with a screenshot of the front page of the paper (click on image to enlarge).
