Right, I’m going to dive right in because there is so much to do near Guildford. This will be the first of two blogs, the second will cover things to do in Guildford. If that doesn’t tell you that there is plenty to do, I don’t know what will.
Thorpe Lakes
Thorpe Lakes is London’s Ultimate Beach Front Watersport’s Resort. Boasting over 150 acres of stunning lakes and park land Thorpe Lakes has been a leading water-sports provider in the UK for over 20 years. But don’t listen to us, take a look for yourself! You can do waterskiing and wakeboarding, try out the aqua park assault course, wake-surf or try the cable wake park, and I’m scratching the surface. Definitely check them out.
There is also a new lake (in Buckland, Surrey) filled with activities set to open later this summer which will actually be the largest lake activity/water sports park in Surrey with paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, and even paddle board yoga!
Thorpe Park
Of course Thorpe had to be on list. For those of you who have never heard of Thorpe Park, it’s a theme park full of rollercoasters, and its less than an hour away. This place is a must for a summer’s day out with friends. You can also stay overnight to really make the most of your trip there and try the UK fastest rollercoaster more than once (0-80mph in less than 2 seconds). I love Thorpe Park and can’t wait to go back again for my fifth trip to date.
Sandown Racecourse
This is another fun day out in the summer if you’re looking for more of a classy day out (without spending too much cash hopefully) where you can all dress up fancy, drink all day, and cheer for your favourite to win. I always choose the horse with the cutest name, or the silks that have the prettiest colours, I know nothing about racing if you hadn’t already guessed.
Campaign Paintball
The UK’s ultimate Paintball, Laser Tag, Airsoft and Multi-activity centre incorporating spectacular features including ‘Dodge City’, which some say is…’ the most authentic ‘Wild West’ town this side of the Mississippi!’ Other realistic sets include 1st world war trenches, a 30ft ‘Zombie’ tower, a jungle zone, and lots of military vehicles. Campaign is one of the closest Paintballing, Airsoft and outdoor Laser Tag venues to London, located in a stunning 100 acres of forest. As a local business, their friendly team of staff offer a professional and personalised service.
Box Hill
Box hill offers a superb photo opportunity of the stunning views over the Surrey countryside, perfect Instagramming material! Or why not have a go at flying a kite, or try out the stepping stones walk. There are also some great pubs you can walk to from Box Hill which is how every walk should end in my opinion, with a nice cold pint.
The Lightbox
The Lightbox Woking is classed as one of the most exciting and interesting gallery and museums in the south east, winning small visitor attraction of the year award in 2009 awarded by tourism south east. The Lightbox offers free admissions, and showcases events, exhibitions, and even yoga on a Sunday afternoon.
There is also so much you can do in London (which is only 30-minutes away by train). So I might do a little blog on what to do there (or maybe two blogs – there’s just so much!). But for now, I hope this has given you an idea on some things you can do near Guildford.
