James Grant’s PhD student awarded PhD sub auspiciis praesidentis at Vienna

Promotio On 12th March 2014, James Grant’s student Annegret Burtscher, graduated with her PhD sub auspiciis praesidentis in the University of Vienna. Promotio sub auspicii is an honour reserved for students who have passed all examinations with distinction from high school through to their PhD. They attend a special graduation ceremony, and are presented with their PhD by the President of Austria (Currently Prof. Heinz Fischer, shown left with Annegret). This year, out of 650 students graduating with a PhD from the University of Vienna, 5 students graduated sub auspicii. Dr Burtscher currently holds a postdoctoral post at the Riemann Centre, Universität Hannover.
