Anne Skeldon gave an invited talk at the Surrey Workshop on sleep and outer space

The workshop “Preparing for the New Space Age: Sleep, Circadian Rhythms, and Health While Living and Working in Space”, was held at the University of Surrey in July (22nd-23rd) (workshop website here). It was organised by Professors Simon Archer, Steven Lockley, and Derk-Jan Dijk, all three from the Surrey Sleep Research Centre. Anne Skeldon gave an invited talk on “Personalised mathematical models of light, sleep and circadian rhythms: a digital twinning approach for health and performance on Earth and beyond”, based on joint work with Derk-Jan Dijk and others at the Surrey Sleep Research Centre. According to Anne, the meeting was a fascinating glimpse into the challenges of putting people into space – whether as part of a Virgin Galactic experience or long-term on the ISS or going to Mars.
