New grant: Ethical behaviours and preventing ‘wrong doing’ in the police

Is policing as ethical as it could be?This is the broad question raised by a number of high profile cases and incidents, including the Leveson Enquiry and the Hillsborough Independent Panel. The question is clearly a complex one, and Dr Almuth McDowall is leading to investigate relevant evidence funded by a grant from the College of Policing.  Police

The research involves stringent searches of relevant literature to elicit which interventions work (or not!) for preventing wrong doing. Almuth says:

“This is a fascinating project based on genuine collaboration. We have assembled a multi-disciplinary team across psychology, sociology and law, working in close collaboration with the College. Watch this space, as we are currently integrating what research has to advise on this important topic, and will be publishing the report in late autumn.”
