Last week I attended a special Team Surrey event, which was organized by a friend of mine. She planned a blood donation session in Guildford for Team Surrey students, in addition to transport from and to campus.
I thought this was an amazing idea, as there are significantly fewer young people that give blood compared to the older generation, however blood is needed all the time to save lives. This event made giving blood more accessible to students and meant that you got to go with your friends to make it easier, as it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world to do.
The NHS makes the entire process of giving blood very simple and provides useful information before your appointment. I was impressed that they sent me several text messages before my first appointment with reminders to drink lots of water etc and let me know after the appointment when and where the blood was used, which was incredibly rewarding.
Have a wonderful day!
